Hello,
You haven't mentioned your category but the cut off rank is category specific. In 2019 the cut off was as follows for admission to B.Tech Metallurgy in Andhra University
Assuming that you belong to general category you need to secure a rank around 15000 to have decent chances of getting seat in the preferred branch in Andhra University. Cut off is subjected to change, it may increase or decrease depending on factors such as total number of candidates appeared, difficulty level of examination and total number of seats available etc.
First, You have to choose in which field you want to pursue your career. Then you will have to choose among the branches. In Mining Engineering, you will learn about drilling and Blasting, Mine Surveying - I, II, Mineralogy, Petrology and Stratigraphy, Mineralogy and Petrology, Mine Development, Geology for Mining Engineers, Geology for Mining Engineers Practical, Rock Mechanics, Underground Coal Mining, etc. In Metallurgy Engineering, Engineering Mechanics, Engineering Drawing, Introduction to Metallurgical and Materials Engineering, Principles of Physical Metallurgy, Thermodynamics of Materials, Chemistry Lab, Phase Transformations, Transport Phenomena in Materials, Deformation and Failure of Materials, Materials Characterization, Environmental Degradation of Materials, Principles of Extractive Metallurgy, Solidification Processing and Casting +, Deformation Processing and Forming, Life Sciences, Computational Materials Engg Lab++, Characterization Lab, etc. Understand the difference between Mining and Metallurgical Engineering. After that, you should choose your college.
All the best.
IIEST Shibpur Metallurgical Engineering is perhaps the Oldest Metallurgy Department in India with IIT KGP and BHU. Hi Aspirant!
No, you cannot join metallurgy after Bsc in chemistry. The courses which you can join after BSc in Chemistry are:
But if you are really interested to start your careers in a metallurgical field then I would suggest you to join MSc inorganic chemistry, it focuses on the study and analysis of inorganic and organometallic compounds. Top recruiting areas include Metallurgy firms , Battery manufacturing firms, and research labs.
Thankyou!

As competition for top most NITs is very high so there is very small chance that you can get chemical or metallurgy branch in top NITs. I am listing below few NITs where you have fair chance to get these branches by analysing the recent years cutoffs.
For Chemical Engineering:
You can check cutoff for B.Tech chemical engineering for all the NITs which runs this branch by clicking on this link. https://engineering.careers360.com/articles/nits-cutoff-for-btech-chemical-engineering

Hello aspirant, according to JCECE final state merit list of 2020 your CML rank will be around 790. You have high probability of getting lower branches like metallurgy or mining in Bit Sindri. Due to OBC category you can also get civil branch. Although your CML rank will completely depend on the percentile of other applicants but you still have a good chance.
You can also improve your score in upcoming JEE exam session 4.

Hey aspirant,
I wouldn't be able to suggest you with which branch you should go for. As,this is a really important decision amongst the students. You should only go with that branch in which you feel you are more comfortable and interested. It's but obvious that you wouldn't want to waste your 4 years of life in studying something in which you are not at all interested.
