With a CLAT rank around 20,000 , getting a seat in top IPU law colleges like USLLS or VIPS is very unlikely , even with defence quota. In past years, these colleges usually closed at much lower ranks.

However, IPU has a 5% defence quota , which can help you get a seat at a higher rank than general category candidates. With defence quota, you may have a chance in lower-preferred IPU law colleges in later counselling rounds (sliding or spot rounds).

So, at 20k CLAT rank with defence quota :

• Top IPU law colleges → Not possible

  Recommended

• Other IPU-affiliated law colleges → Possible in later rounds

• Seat is not guaranteed , depends on vacancies and your defence priority

You should participate in all counselling rounds and keep defence documents ready to improve your chances.
