Hey!

each timer has 2 registers that are 16 bits wide. Example, 8051 timers have two timers , T0 timer1 and T1 timer 2 and both are 16 bit wide.  the registers are used to load timer count. It has 8 bit architecture  which are accessed by 8 bits registers.  And 8 bit timers can count only upto 255.
