First of all don't take burden of the exam if you will take it as a burden then automatically it will hamper your preparations. While you can sit calmly and study .
Try completing the syllabus and then you can sit with the MCQs for practice and with timer on . Then one more thing you can do is you can take previous year question papers of the entrance test for which you are preparing. And you can put the timer on for that many hours /minutes . And you can self access yourself. Hence you can do improvement on your own.
