Hello there

University of Calcutta is ranked 5th by nirf among all Universities across India and M.A in English language and literature is among the top MA courses .The department there host to  several celebrated faculties and speakers every year and also UGC assisted international conference is organised every year.In addition to these the course fee is also very nominal.
However on the other hand there is not much of strong placement scenario in literature or language subjects over there.

Assuming the fact that you have done BA in English literature, MA in the same should be a piece of cake for you. The placements are not very decent when it comes to language courses. It would be advisable to seek career in government institutions (or a good private university) as a teacher or a professor. In such a case the pay is pretty commendable.
You may also give a try in the coaching line for tests like TOFEL and IELTS. Give a shot at writing in your spare time.
