In total there are 272 government colleges which means for MBBS there are exactly 41,388 seats .
While in private colleges which includes the deemed institutes as well there are a total of 260 colleges which means 35,540 seats in total.
While AIIMS and JIPMER institutions have a total of 1205 and 200 seats respectively. Since there are 15 AIIMS college and 2 JIMER college.

The total number of government medical colleges/ institutions in India are about 532 with 76,928 MBBS seats and 9 AIIMS MBBS all over India with 727 more seats and 200 more JIPMER MBBS seats. There are around total of 41388 government medical colleges in India.
