Hi,

Hope you are doing well!

Some ways in which candidates can become an Indian Air Force (IAF) pilot are:

National Defence Academy (NDA), Combined Defence Services Exam (CDSE), NCC entry and Short Service Commission Entry (SSC) are the courses that are the only path to get into IAF as a Flying Officer.

In order to become a fighter pilot you need to give NDA exam after class 12.The candidates who qualify the examination will have to undergo a three years training at NDA followed by flying training at Air Force Training establishments to become Permanent Commission Officers’ or as Pilots at any IAF Station.

You can also give CDS exam after completing your graduation. According  to the eligibility you need to clear your BA/BSc/BCom course from a UGC-recognised university or BE/BTech. You also need Physics and Maths as compulsory subjects in your 10+2. After graduation AFCAT exam also enables you to become fighter pilot.

The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) conducts the Combined Defence Services Examination (CDSE) twice a year for recruitment into Indian Airforce. After qualifying the exam, one has to undergo training to get a Permanent Commission.

Hope it helps.

All the best for your future.
