Thanks for A2A brother

With this rank, you can't expect to get a seat at CSE or EE.

But you can get easily the seat at their mathematics and computational course. This is relatively newer course and has lot of promise of growth regarding in both industrial and research point of view.

Also, if CSE is your aim then you can get IIT BHU or IIT Hyderabad with this rank.

Thank You

Hello Sidesh,

It highly depends on what basis you want to compare the branches. It is a subjective answer. Here is my answer hope you get what you want.

I would rank them in the following order -

Computer Science

Mathematics and Computing

Biotech and Electrical (tied)

CS is well CS. But not only that this dep. has the best facilities and chillest professor on campus. They are knowledgable and unlike the old fashioned khadoos profs most of them often relate to students.

Mathematics and computing is the next big thing, had profs of this dep not been so rude and old fashioned I would have put this on the first. But because of it being a new branch and lack of funds for maths department, students need to often put in a lot of work and seek refuge under CS and elec departments for good projects. This branch has the potential to get you the best packages and research opportunities.

Not many would agree with my choice for 3rd place. Biotech is one of the most promising fields and when combined with maths/CS/electrical equals mouth watering job/research opportunities. But due to the Indian mentality and ignorance of the middle class people not many understand the potential of this branch. Anyone with a slight interest in bio should learn more about it and atleast consider this option. (AIIMS is not the only option if you like Bio). Interdisciplinary fields are future of engineering.

Electrical as always been an ever green branch. It has an advantage over others in my top 3 because of being a core branch it helps in UPSC exams(As I have been told). IIT Delhi has one of the best elec dep of the country, but since the boom of CS its limelight has been snatched away.

I would rank other branches in the following order -

4. Mechanical & Industrial Production

5. Chemical & Engineering Physics

6. Civil

7. Textile

PS. The one with ties means you really can’t compare them and will depend on person’s interest
