The official notification gets released in September every year, candidates seeking admission need to appear for CAT, however there are other alternatives as well such as UGC JRF/GATE too are accepted in various specializations as follows;

• Agriculture; UGC-JRF (Economics/ Development Studies/Development Economics/ Business Economics/ Management) ICAR-SRF (PGS – merit list for award of SRF)
• Economics; GATE/UGC JRF in relevant discipline
• Information Systems; GATE
• Innovation and Management in Education; GATE/UGC JRF in relevant discipline
• Organizational Behaviour; UGC JRF in relevant discipline
• Human Resource Management; GATE
• Production and Quantitative Methods; GATE/UGC JRF in mathematical sciences
• Public Systems; GATE/UGC JRF in relevant discipline

Admission is based on CAT scores or any other valid entrance scores, academic background, and experience, this is further followed by interview.
