As per previous records, there are little chances you may get Electrical Engineering. As previous year the closing rank was 22000, so you may miss. I would suggest you go till the end round in counseling.In case you want only that institute and not any other, join it with some other branch like civil or Mechanical(previous year closing rank 35k and 25k), and try for branch migration to EEE.

Sir i actually can't afford to wait till final counselling ... I hv to take admission somewhere... I don't think i can risk to wait for end rounds

I understand bro, you must have applied for other universities forms, such as those of VIT, KITEEE, BITS, or other exams, such as WBJEE, or others. But the thing is, you should prioritize, which institute is of utmost priority. In case you filled Private Institute, they'll be asking you for doing counseling, even before the JOSAA begins, well that's the trap. They'll block your money so that you lose money if you back off from admission to their college. I suggest you, to analyze the institutes you have qualified, and what all branches you are getting. You'll get a core branch seat in NIT Durgapur, that's for sure. So if you want your college to be nearby you town(and NIT Durgapur is actually good), then leave other private colleges. As you mentioned you want EEE, you can easily get it anywhere, in any institute. Private institutes will always run behind you to get you admitted. (You'll get SMS for admission even till October, for admission from private universities). So if you are worried that waiting for JOSAA, will result in missing of a better opportunity, leave that thought. NIT Durgapur is worth that wait.And don't worry, if you got 137 in JEE, you will definitely get admission somewhere. Only if you get BITS, or any other very reputed college for EEE specifically, you may leave JOSAA, else, don't miss the chance of NIT Durgapur.Hope this helps
