If you belong to general category than you can not go in NIT because for general category the eligibility criteria for the admission in NIT and IIIT is minimum 75% in boards or in top 30 percentile.
But if you belong to ST/ SC category than you can take admission in NIT depending upon the rank in JEE mains.

Then if you are under top 20 percentile you are eligible for taking admission in nits nothing to worry about that

For getting into NIT's, you must score more than 75% marks or stay in the top 20 percentile of your respective state board.
