Reservation for various cast in college admission is made compulsory. It is either followed in students state ranking calculation or during taking admission in interest of college. It may depend on the college and affiliation of that college with state universities. You can see it by observing and comparing different cast cutoff of various colleges.

In engineering surely there is reservation for girs , sc , St and obc, physically disabled  class separately , the percentage of reservation differs for different entrance exams , but mostly 50% seats are reserved for sure
