All Engineering branches have a lot of scope to be honest. The candidate should follow his passion and depending upon his interest should choose his branch wisely. The placement prospects of a branch depends a lot upon the College placement cell and the individual's communication skills and repertoire in the branch that he/she wants to pursue.

You rate Computer Science Engineering and IT sector highly. These are the branches that you will always see some sort of placement whether it is of 2.5 lakhs or it is whopping 1 crore. But, there are many state government engineering Institutes, despite being government colleges are not able to provide it's students a decent package and the only Companies that visit are the mass recruiters like TCS, Infosys, Wipro, etc.

Mining and Mineral Industry, Chemical Engineering, Geo-informatics and Biotechnology also have a lot of scope. You just need to find a good college that has great placement scenario and an active placement cell with solid alumni base.

There are many rare Engineering branches that you may not even have heard of. You can try Petroleum Engineering. In this department, almost every guy gets placement, although the fees charged is bit on the higher side.

Good Institutes get good placement. Graduating from a non-happening college will lead to saturation in job opportunities and no further scope of climbing higher up the ladder of promotion/success. It is applicable to all branches including computer science engineering.
