Dear Shrish, if you are joining Distance Education programme at IGNOU, attending the classes isn't mandatory. The reason you are opting for Distance Education is because you can't attend the classes regularly. The whole concept of Distance Education is to make education accessible to those enthusiastic students who want to upgrade their educational qualification but don't have the luxury of time to attend college regularly. You can attend the exams directly.
