Yes. TNEA is necessary to get into Anna University as it doesn't accept JEE scores. Apply for TNEA. Attend the exam. Ace it. Satisfy the eligibility criteria. Attend the counselling sessions and bag a seat in the branch you desire for. For other state students, a special quota is alloted for the placement of seats. You should be having minimum 50% of the maximum marks in  state board for being eligible to write the exam. Applications are available online.
