Dear Madhurima,

There are a lot of B.tech courses in IIT Kharagpur. The opening rank and closing rand depends on the courses you are willing to study. Also, admission in dependant on the cast.

For eg: If you are willing to pursue Instrumentation Engineering then the opening rank will be around 930 and the closing rank will be around 2284 (Based on last year closing and opening rank) for general Caste. For SC the opening and closing rank was 767 and 997 respectively. For ST it was 395 (Opening rank) and 590 (closing rank). For OBC it was 784 (opening rank) and 1321 (closing rank).

Let me know if you have any more questions.

Dear candidate......... hope you're doing good..

Well, your rank in JEE ADVANCED may be in a range less than 3000 approximately to get a core engineering branch like mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, civil engineering or computer science engineering in an IIT. But you can also apply for dual degree M.tech courses for five years where your rank may range upto 5000.

Hope this helps you out.........

Best of luck:)

Hello,
If you want to get into an iit your jee advanced rank should be below 10000. If you want to get into top iits like Madras, Mumbai, Kharagpur, Kanpur, Delhi, your rank should be below 5000. If you want branches like metallurgical and material sciences, with a rank of around 8000, you can secure a seat in the iits you mentioned.

Hi Aspirant,

To get non-core branch in older IITs you must have a rank less than 5k. To get a decent branch your rank should be less than 3k. Below is the link where you'll find closing and opening rank of all the IITs:
