Rajput:-

Rajputs are a warrior tribe of India like Jats, Gujjars, Yadavs etc. They claim to be Kshatriyas in origin, however this is debated especially by the Brahmin community who claim Parashurama destroyed the real Kshatriyas and therefore the Rajput's claim to be of Kshatriya origin cannot be true. Their influence was largely limited to the regional areas of Rajasthan, some parts of Madhya Pradesh, Haryana and Delhi before the Muslims invaded India. It was during the muslim invasion that the Rajputs put up a tough fight against the invaders. However on the whole they lost, but they gained the respect of Muslim Kings who befriended some of the Rajputs and even married Rajput women and vice-versa.

Origin of Rajput:-

The word Rajput first originated in the 6th century AD. The Rajputs gained a prominent place in Indian history from the 6th century AD to the 12th century AD. In the context of the origin of Rajputs, scholars have mentioned many theories. According to the theory given by Mr. Colonel James Tod, the origin of Rajputs was of foreign origin. According to him, Rajputs were descendants of Kushans, Shakas and Hunas. According to him, because the Rajputs worshiped fire.
