There are less chances of your son to get admission in IPU. Since, maximum required rank is 30-35K in JEE Main (https://www.entrancezone.com/engineering/jee-main-2020/) . But the good alternate can be that you can find more relevant colleges according to your rank.

His chances of getting admission in IPU through JEE MAINS are decent, according to his rank he must surely have cleared the exam for Advanced. Now, IPU has a decent to difficult cutoff through JEE MAINS, so can't really be said. It depends on the branch of your choice too. Actually, the branch is one of the main factors in determining if you'd get admission or not. So you must figure that out first, and set a preference list. All the best!

Hope you are also doing the josaa counselling . I apologize you may not get any college on this rank if you are non-delhite (Closing rank is generally close to 60k) but if you are delhite then you have great chances to enter ipu (Closing rank is generally close to 1lac).
