Hello Aspirant,

Hope you are doing well.

What exactly is a Composite Score on the MAT?
MAT composite score refers to the total number of points earned based on performance in the first four sections of the exam. This is because these sections are concerned with the skills required over a longer period of time in the field of management. The following points, as given by the AIMA, will provide additional insight into the calculation of the MAT composite score.

The MAT composite score is provided on a scale ranging from 199 to 801 points out of a possible 800 points. It is uncommon to receive a composite score on the MAT that is less than 200 or greater than 800.
Only a few sections have sectional scores of less than 20 and more than 80.
In this case, all scores below 200 are recorded as 199, and all scores over 800 are reported as 801. Thus, even if your total score is less than 199, your composite score will be represented as being less than 199. In a similar vein, for scores more than 801, the score will be reported as 801 alone.

What exactly is the MAT Percentile?
For each of the sectional scores on the MAT score card, a percentile is indicated for that score. A candidate's MAT percentile can be understood as a percentage of all candidates who scored lower than the candidate, based on how well the candidate performed on the full exam. For example, if 5000 candidates registered for a particular MAT, the percentile achieved by each candidate will be determined based on the performance of the remaining 4999 candidates.

The relationship between MAT Score and Percentile
Here are the most significant distinctions between the MAT score and the percentile.

The MAT 2021 Score is the sum of the marks received by applicants in all sections of the MAT entrance examination in twenty-first century.
The percentile score for MAT 2021 refers to the relative marks received by a candidate. It displays the percentage of MAT 2021 exam takers who received worse marks than the candidate in the previous year. In other terms, a percentile rank is a method of rating individuals in relation to other individuals in a sample of individuals. Example: A 90 percentile indicates that your result is higher than the scores of more than 90 percent of the candidates who took the entrance exam.
When taking the MAT 2021 exam, the composite score is the average of the candidate's performance in the first four sections of the examination, as assessed by the test administrator.

Hope you got the answer to your question. Incase of any queries, feel free to question. Have a great day!
