There are lots of  college and private institutes affiliated under one university. It will be around 1lakhs or more seats . for one private college if it has 5 streams and they have atleast 1k seats considering all reservation and management quota.  if there are 30-40 colleges affiliated then it will be near to 40k seats and many join latter in lateral entry too. so calculating for both the university it will be approximately 90k to 1 lakh.

571 colleges are affiliated under anna university and 218 colleges are affilated under vishveshwayya technological university. so it will be 550k+212k seats in total(approximately). It is not sure as there are institutes which have less number of seats and some has more.
