If JEE Advanced paper is easy then you need to score more than 210 to get a stream in IIST. While if the paper is marked as difficult (as in 2016), then you will have to get above 130 . To play the game safely, try to bring your rank below 8000 in JEE Advanced.

In 2018, for General Category,
For B.Tech Aerospace Engineering, Cutoff score was 34.17%
For B.Tech Electronics and Communication Engineering, Cutoff score was 33.05%
For Dual Degree, Cutoff score was 36.39%.

In order to get admission in IIST you should at least score more than 200.
According to the cut off rank list of IIST in 2020:
1. Aerospace Engineering : 172-775
2. Electronics and Communication Engineering in Avionics : 77-951
3. Engineering Physics (Dual Degree) : 240-882
