IIT Palakkad focuses on research  based learning specific to disciplines and departments along with thematic interdisciplinary research centers. The institute has well qualified Faculty members are allowed to hold multiple affiliations. IIT Palakkad has a Centre for Education Technology that serves as the focal point of computing resources, which are shared by all the departments and offices of the Institute. The CET comprises and manages High-Performance Computing Cluster and Hyper-Converged Infrastructure (VMWare).  The institute has  4 Labs equipped with 255 All-In-One Dual Boot Desktops, and 12 high-end servers in which applications and software such as Moodle, Room Booking System, Website, Admission Portals, Recruitment portals and Support portal.
