Hello.

If we look at previous year's cutoff for B. Tech Mechanical Engineering at Visvesvaraya National Institute of Technology, Nagpur, the closing rank in the last round (6th) for OBC-Home state was 6967. Hence you should aim for a rank at least in the top 6000. The cutoffs change every year and depend on the number of candidates appearing for JEE (Mains), relative performance of other candidates, difficulty of the paper etc.

To check previous year's cutoff: https://josaa.nic.in/Result/Result/currentorcr.aspx

To predict your JEE (Mains) rank:

To get a report of the colleges you can apply to based on JEE (Mains) percentile: https://engineering.careers360.com/jee-main-college-predictor?icn=QnA&ici=qna_answer

I hope this helps.
