Hello Aspirant,

It not fair to compare both as psychology is an applied behavioral science and Anesthesia and OT is a technical field. The scope are different for both.In psychology at a B.Sc level you cannot expect any good and effective job opportunities , you would need a masters degree to start a career. Though there are many specializations and applications in psychology, in India , counselling psychology and clinical psychology are the two areas with good demand. However , outside India ,psychology has got immense scope and sport psychology is a fast growing and lucrative field in abroad countries.

Below are the courses you can take up after BSc Psychology in India:

MA/MSc in Applied Psychology.

MA/MSc in Counseling Psychology.

MA/MSc Clinical Psychology.

There can be few other options with limited intake such as neuropsychology, forensic psychology, cognitive science etc which you can search about if you are interested. To get into research and academics ,an M.Phill and PhD would be required.Clinical psychologist with RCI license are given a decent salary based on the hospital and location you work in. An average salary would be 3-4 lakhs per annum (it can increase with experience). If you clear UGC NET JRF or professorship, then you get be part of some good government projects which can pay you well ,same case when you join as a faculty member in reputed universities in India with NET qualification. Now some corporate companies or big private educational institutes have been hiring skilled psychologists for behavioral training and development along with counselling with pretty good salary packages, but the competition would be high as the number of such openings or positions are less.

Coming to anesthesia, it is a sub-field in medical science or sort of a paramedical course and it has got various applications mainly in areas such as pre-operative patient care to critical care, trauma care, pain management and palliative care.Likewise OT is related to medical technology field which has also got a good scope. You can work as an OT Technologist, Lab Technician, OT Assistant, Associate Consultant,Teacher etc.If you finish M.sc in Operation Theatre Technology in future your job prospects will increase and generally the salary packages are high in the field, but of course it depends on the hospital you work in and experience. So since, this is a technical field , the scope and average salaries would be good.

Below are some higher studies option after B.Sc Anesthesia and OT :

M.Sc in Operation Theatre and Anesthesia Technology.

M.Sc in Pain management.

PG Diploma in Anesthesiology.

PhD in surgical sciences and anesthesia.

PG Certificate in Pain Management, etc.

Bottom line, both are very good fields , so you should choose based on your interests and future career goals . If an immediate job after B.Sc is your priority , then I would suggest BSc Anesthasia and OT.
