hello,

to be a good geotechnical engineer,you should study the following subjects:

  • soil mechanics
  • soil improvement
  • foundation engineering
  • ground engineering topics
  • earth dynamics
  • slope stability analysis
  • mapping and topography
  • disaster management and mitigation

these are the basic subjects only.you'll be having this kind of subjects and for further details you've to visit the official website of iit bombay.

Hi Aspirant,

You will basically be studying soil engineering 1 and 2 corresponding to your semester.

Others are elective and you have to elect 3-4 subjects.

Other papers include experimental geotechnics,communication skills and stage dissertation in your 3rd and 4th sem.
