Dhemaji Post Graduate Training College was founded in 1991 and is one of the top institutions of higher education at the college level in Assam. This NCTE approved affiliated college focuses purely on teacher education programmes, which go on in a compact campus spread over 0.8 acres of land. With a total of 100 students enrolled in a batch and a faculty strength of 12, the institute assures attention to each student and hence provides good quality education. Dhemaji Post Graduate Training College offers courses at two levels: B.Ed and D.El.Ed.

Dhemaji Post Graduate Training College generally offers two courses in the education field. The B.Ed programme is conducted as a full-time two-year course with an approved intake of 50 students. Correspondingly, the university also offers a Diploma in Elementary Education D.El.Ed course . These programmes aim at arming the students with all the skills and knowledge necessary for effective working in any case of the education system. The college focuses on the two core programmes, leaving room for specific training and more in-depth study in the field of education.

The admission process is strictly merit-based at Dhemaji Post Graduate Training College, it strictly adheres to policies mandated by the State Government. For B.Ed programme, eligible candidates must qualify the B.Ed CET conducted by the university concerned for that academic session. Admission for D.El.Ed is based on marks secured in a qualifying examination or entrance test, as applicable, according to the policy of the state government or UT administration.
