About Indira Gandhi Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Ernakulam
Indira Gandhi Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences located in Ernakulam was founded in 2019, thus, it is comparatively a nascent institute in the Pharmaceutical education system at India. This is a co-educational institution situated at Poomala, Asamannoor Post Office, Perumbavoor; This is a PCI approved affiliated college. The institute is located in a vast plot of 10.045-acre and has two areas of specialization in pharmacy with a total student enrollment capacity of 601. The human resource in terms of faculty members is 27 extremely committed individuals thus providing us the diversity of having more students per teacher thus ensuring quality education in the field of pharmacy.
To support the academic experience of its learners, the institute has developed numerous infrastructures to accommodate learners. The students may sometimes refer to the library which is well stocked with relevant books while putting into practice their practical knowledge acquired from the well equipped laboratory areas that are inevitable components of a school of pharmacy. It has a boys hostel and a girls hostel where out station students can stay comfortably away from their homes. Some of the facilities are; Auditoriums for holding events and seminars as well as creating an active academic community. The institute also respects student welfare through meaningful services such as, sports grounds, canteen, health centre to avail first aid. As a result of this, to foster with the modern world, the college has well established information technology facilities. A Training & Placement Cell focuses on ensuring that the students have bright employment prospects waiting for them and the Narcotic Club is an additional innovative concept for a co-curriculum activity.
Apart from these IGIPS offers two full time courses related to Pharmaceutical science. The institute offers 2 years diploma course in the field of pharmacy known as Diploma in Pharmacy (D.Pharma) and a four and four year’s course Bachelor of Pharmacy (B.Pharma). We have approved intakes in each of the two courses at 60 students and therefore 60 seats per year for all the courses combined. By taking this approach, the institute is in a position to uphold high standards of education in its of field specialty. Due to the few programmes offered, the institute can focus this limited academic resource well as its faculty well, which may lead to a better quality of the offered education in pharmaceutical sciences.
The admission procedure of IGIPS, to be sure, is devised to assist worthy candidates for the achievement of their pharmaceutical aspirations.
