America’s Written Constitution

The curriculum for America’s Written Constitution online course covers diverse topics such as the Preamble, the powers held by the President, the Congress, and the judicial branch, to name a few. You will also learn how factors like geography, race, and wealth, affected the structure of the Congress, as well as the term limits, age limits, qualifications, and salaries for senators.

America’s Written Constitution programme broadly covers the relationship between States and territories; particularly, how the Supreme Court rulings on racial laws set America down the road to a civil war. You will learn the difference between laws, resolutions, statutes, and treaties.

Additionally, the course will cover the Bill of Rights, which grants citizens the right to Freedom of Speech and fair trial, to keep and bear arms, among others. The amendments to the Constitution that introduced a lot of changes in America such as abolishing slavery, redefining citizenship, and granting women the right to vote, are also covered.

America’s Unwritten Constitution

Yale University offers America’s Unwritten Constitution certification course programme in association with Coursera. The training course will introduce you to the various ways and processes essential for interpreting the constitution. Moreover, this course consists of 15 modules and will aid you in going beyond the text of the American constitution, while still abiding by it.

America’s Unwritten Constitution online course will require you to complete approximately 16 hours of modules with videos and practice exercises. The course will equip you with the primary skills such as the interpretive process of reading between the lines and understanding the unenumerated rights embodied by Americans.

Additionally, you will learn to use precedents to understand the constitution, using documents other than the Constitution for comprehension and analysis. Coursera America’s Unwritten Constitution training course also delves into the relationship between George Washington and Article II of the American constitution; and the two-party system in the country and conscience in government, amongst many other things.
