The Public Health Foundation of India (PHFI) is a non-profit public-private initiative that was introduced to make India move towards a healthier side. PHFI developed three Indian Institutes of Public Health (IIPHs) including Gandhinagar (Gujarat), Hyderabad (Telangana) and Delhi-NCR in 2008 which focus on educating people about public health. Later, two more institutes were also established in Bhubaneswar (Odisha) in 2010 and Shillong (Meghalaya) in 2015. PHFI was established to meet the needs of the emerging public health issues of India. PHFI has also four Centres of Excellence(CoE) which encourages research and education on public health including SACDIR (South Asia Centre for Disability Inclusive Development and Research), The Ramalingaswami Centre for Social Determinants of Health, The Centre for Chronic Conditions and Injuries (CCCI) and Centre for Environmental Health. The main objective of PHFI is to build a better public health system for India. PHFI has also planned to launch CoEs in several areas including Emerging and other Communicable Diseases, Public Health Nutrition, Health Systems and Policy, Maternal and Child Health and Tribal Health.
