All The Best!!
Hi Aspirant,
BSc in Mathematical Science is a great step for your journey as Data Scientist. It will also be a great step to learn Data Structures and do competitive programming. Now keeping it short let me tell what is needed to be a Data Scientist:
Data Scientist = Mathematics + Statistics + Programming language + Machine Learning and AI + Analytical Skills.
And for jobs in the current scenario, a lot of software engineers and mathematicians have self-taught themselves to fit into the role of data scientist. Many companies including big firms and startups are coming up with the openings of data science, and this seems to be the right time to dive into the field.
For more information on Data scientist, you can refer the link below
Hope this helps.
Good luck!!!
Its great to know youre interested in the IT/Software/Analytics Service Sector. What I would suggest you is after B.Sc. in Mathematical Sciences, you must pursue MCA from some of the Best NITs or Top Public or Private Universities having strong Placement Prospects. Especially the NITs, you need to ace the NIMCET Examination followed by securing Admission in MCA, and hence a strong career in the IT/Software/Services Industry.
Other Option could be pursuing a M.Sc./MS in Quantitative Economics, Mathematics & Statistics or Computational Sciences from Eminent Institutes like ISI Kolkata and its branches like ISI Delhi. ISI Kolkata and New Delhi, really have Good Placements. And after M.Sc. or after some years of Work experience post M.Sc., if seriously interested, you may even pursue M.Tech in CS/Mathematics & Computing/ Data Science from some of the Top Institutes in India.
Hello candidate,
Some of the best career opportunities options for a data scientist are- Business Intelligence Analyst, Data Mining Engineer, Data Architect, Data Scientist, Senior Data Scientist, etc.
Some of the best countries considering both job opportunities and payment criterias are Germany, UK, France, Netherlands, Spain, Italy, and Switzerland.
Hope you found it helpful!!
hi,
see it does not matter which of the streams you may belongs to. if you have the skill needed for data science then you can be a data scientist. Its fine that at school level or bachelors level you did not study math or statistics. but there is several course in coursera, edx for beginners who are new in data science field. however it is always best if you have good concept on probability and statistics of primary level to begin your learning sessions of data science.
key skill to become a data scientist is as follows:
Statistics.
At least one programming language – R/ Python.
Data Extraction, Transformation, and Loading.
Data Wrangling and Data Exploration.
Machine Learning Algorithms.
Advanced Machine Learning (Deep Learning)
Big Data Processing Frameworks.
Data Visualization.
Dear Aspirant,
to pursue Data Science as a career, you will first require a Bachelor's degree in the stream of either Computer Science, Information Science or Information Technology. Along with this you can do a few other courses and do internships to get an outside perspective of how the world of data science works. Upon completion of your Bachelor's degree you can try to look for a job in the field or even go for your Master's degree to get more knowledge and exposure of the stream.
Both the fields is at its peak. So if you can pursue any of the field then you will get a great opportunity of jobs as well as research.
So there are no difference in terms of employability but the subject matters will differ and you have to understand your interest to choose the perfect course for you.
Software Engineering is the engineering to design and increase efficiency of software. This field needs a good amount of coding as you can understand and can be really interesting if you want to work in the field of Software, App development etc.
Data Science is a newly emerging field having a composite of Computer Science, Neural Networks, Statistics and Discrete Mathematics. The purpose of the course is mainly to find trends and to forecast conclusion from the data. Data Science is also associated with Data sequencing having multiple applications in:
and many more.
Now depending on your interest you can choose the field. There are no scarcity of jobs in any of the fields.

I hope my answer helps. All the very best for your future endeavors!
Hello Aspirant,
Hope you are doing well !!
To become a Data Scientist :-
You should improve your mathematics skill, some topics like Statistical methods and probability theory, Probability distributions, Multivariable calculus, Linear algebra, Hypothesis testing, Statistical modeling and fitting, Data summaries and descriptive statistics, etc. you should learn programming language like Python, R, etc. you should work on some projects, Need to work hard. Start with Data analysis.
I hope this this information will help you.
All the best for your bright future ahead.
see all of the work position you have mentioned is different slightly from one another and it depends on the organizations and the work load may differ as per organization wise. so it can not be predicted which of the course would bring a good salary, as a fresher you may expect 3.5-4 lpa job in any of the discipline. but the candidates who are well versed in programming and belongs to top institute like vit vellore, nits , JU may brags 6lpa + package at the starting of career.
so work on your skill and practice every day.
Any Professional or any employee who works more than his regular duty hours is eligible to get overtime salary for his additional part of work. scientist and data engineer have to spend a large amount of time to enter the data and balance their tally and work over nights commonly, eligible for more overtime salary on a general basis.
Have a good day.
