See Food Technology is an applied interdisciplinary field. Although it has industrial need but it have lower placements. As you aren't concerned about that, I would say IIT KGP will be a better choice for you. The institute have good faculties in this field with good research experiences. The infrastructure & the quality of education are just amazing there. IIT GUWAHATI is also good, but from the academic criterion, it don't have that much of field experts as IIT KGP. The lab infrastructure are better in IIT Guwahati but the applied field structure of curriculum are very well designed in IIT KGP. So I would recommend you to go for the IIT KGP for Food Technology.

Hello Krishna,

M.Tech Food Processing Engineering in Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur and International Joint Master of Technology (M.Tech.) degree (IMD) in Food Science and Technology offered by Indian Institute of Technology, Guwahati and Gifu University, a national University in Japan are best at there places. Among the both Joint Master of Technology in Food Technology course in Indian Institute of Technology, Guwahati is preferred as this type of program is launched newly in India and may have good scope. Where are M.Tech M.Tech Food Processing Engineering in Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur is a regular Masters course you can find in any other College.

But here are only 5 seats for Indians and another 5 seats for Japan students for Joint Master of Technology in Food Technology course in Indian Institute of Technology, Guwahati which has high competition. If you can get seat then go for it or else go for M.Tech in Food Processing Engineering in Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur because it has 30 seats for this course. As you know both the Institutions has the brand called IIT, so both of them are good at their academics, placements, research scope etc. But Joint Master of Technology in Food Technology in  Indian Institute of Technology, Guwahati is a bit high level than M.Tech in Food Processing Engineering in Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur.

For more information about M.Tech Food Processing Engineering course in Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur go through below mentioned link.

Good Luck!!
