Hello!

For appearing BA French exam of JNU, you must have interest in learning about language and literature, communication skills and basic knowledge of French grammar. Entrance syllabus mainly comprises of questions from following language subjects:

  • General knowledge
  • General English
  • Elementary knowledge

Unit 1,2,3 will be objective type multiple choice questions from relevant qualifying exams and Unit 4 will be written subjective.

To prepare for this entrance exam you need to possess basic general knowledge, awareness and English. For this read English newspapers regularly to gain fluency in language and G.K.

As well as download online past years entrance exam question papers from JNU website or other sources. If possible, you can also purchase sample and previous papers from nearby areas of JNU campus or from books stores and photocopy shops in Delhi.

Thank you.

For B.A. there are three clusters:
Cluster 1: French, German, Spanish, Russian
Cluster 2: Japenese, Korean, Chinese
Cluster 3: Persian, Arabic, Pashto
Candidates may opt for three languages from two clusters only or three languages within the same cluster. The entrance test will be a common test which will be conducted along with the B.A. entrance test for 3 clusters mentioned above.
For Computer based objective test, Candidates shall be examined on the basis of their general language and aptitude test. Questions will be asked from General knowledge, General English and Elementary knowledge on the culture and civilisation of the languages concerned and aptitude for knowledge skills.
For subjective exam questions will be set in respective foreign language (french for you) and answers will be given in that foreign language only. Proficiency for written and spoken for required language is required. Knowledge of basic and applied grammar and translation from concerned language to english. Familiarise yourself with the culture and civilisation of your concerned language.
For preparing materials I told you some source before, other than that you can purchase R Gupta's JNU B.A. (hons.) foreign languages entrance exam book, which is available easily online.
Thank you
