With a JEE Main rank, if you clear the examination, you'll have to login to your account and fill up the counselling form with the necessary details including your choice of colleges. You will have to get your documents verified and then they will release lists where your colleges will be allotted. Once alloted, you cn either accept it or go for the next round of counselling. If you accept it you need to visit the college for admission confirmation. Hope this helped!

Once you have given the exam and you have cleared the cutoff and have scored a decent score, then after that you have to wait for the rank list. Rank list is the basis on which counselling is done. For admission in various NIT, IIT and IIIT and GFTI you have to fill in the counselling of JoSAA.

Then on the basis of your preference and your rank you will be allocated a seat. For some colleges, this process is carried out in other counseliings like CSAB, or their own counseling like in the case of JMI, Delhi.
