Any Regular course is given more preference compared to done through open. But, in case you are applying for IIMs, you should go for English Honors, as you will be coming within the minority group. So, under the academic diversity quota, you will be getting first preference over engineers as the number of students coming from Arts background is usually least. Similarly during GD/PI round of IIFT. You will get much preference. 

Btech Is firstky always preferable and most reputed degree secondky jts bene your fulktime degree which again holds great value than any distance course.

So its very ckear that you must fillup Btech a sprimary education at top spit and then BA As secondary if you wish to for NMAT applications.
