Very few colleges offer aeronautical engineering in India while many offer aerospace engineering which is closely related. On an average an Aeronautical Engineer earns a salary of Rs 5-6 lakhs per annum, however with growth in qualification and experience this amount goes on increasing. The scope of Aeronautical Engineering course is very varied where candidates have a job profile of Aeronautical Engineer with many specializations such as Aeronautic Electronic Engineers, Aeronautic Mechanical Engineer, Aeronautic Mechanical Engineers, Flight Engineers, Assistant Aircraft Engineers, Aerospace Designer Checker. These job roles are offered by recruiters such as Air India, Defence Research and Development Laboratories, Helicopter Corporation of India, Pawan Hans, Indian Air Force, Private Airlines among others.
For IIT-B, the cutoffs in the past few years have been in between 1.5k and 2k for Aerospace. The same have been ~2.5k-2.7k for IIT-K, and ~3k for IIT-M and IIT-KGP.
