They offer jobs through their placements irrespective of the branch you belong to. Hence you will be eligible for software jobs provided you clear their tests and interviews and satisfy their criteria. Also, yes you can upgrade your branch at the end of first year but this is based on your gpa and this criteria has to be fulfilled and the vacancies should be available on your department of choice.
