Start solving test papers and mock exams every day. At this stage, solving maximum papers is better than starting a new study topic as you can understand your strengths and weaknesses better. It will boost your confidence and help you understand the mistakes you are making and think of strategies to avoid them. During the last week, don't spend too much time focusing on just one aspect of the syllabus. Browse through different topics and chapters so that you don't feel the pressure and tension of missing out on any chapter. Start preparing for the examination day. Keep your admit card ready, along with all the stationary that you will need "? pen, pencil, erasers, etc. Though this sounds really simple, it can cause a lot of panic at the last minute. In order to get peace of mind on the exam day, it is better to visit the centre before hand and familiarise yourself with the surroundings. Calculate the time required to reach the exam centre and plan to reach there at least 2 hours before time. This will help you relax and give you a buffer in case you have forgotten something or face unavoidable situations on the road. Study for short periods for higher scores. Ideally, a 30 to 50 minutes' study session followed by a 10-minutes break is best for revisions. Be careful of the negative marking in the exams. When is a 2/3rd negative marking on a 2 marks MCQ, you must solve it only if you are absolutely sure. When solving the mock papers, keep this in mind and analyse whether your strategy is working to score better marks. Also, make sure you divide your time properly to solve all the questions. But in case the plan doesn't go on time, don't get frustrated. Stay calm and keep solving. Your mental, physical and emotional well-being is highly important during these last few days. Get at least 8-10 hours of sleep every day. Ensure that your sleep cycle is properly synced at least a week before the paper so that you don't feel sleepy during the exams. Also, avoid staying up at nights and drinking energy drinks. Stay away from unhealthy food for a week before the examination. Remember that a calm mind and a well-revised syllabus is the mantra for success during these last few days. Focus all your time and energy in preparing for the examination day and you will surely excel with flying colours in GATE 2017. Good luck!
