The Chemical Engineering department itself was started in 1963. So, in terms of vintage, this definitely is definitely one. Like all other old institutes in India, the department also boasts of very successful alumni.

In terms of lab infrastructure, the department is very well equipped. Although the instruments may look old, each one of them works perfectly to this date .

As far as the academics are concerned, I am sad to say that the standards are not very good. The whole department relies on a handful of Profs and so there will be lot of self learning involved with each subject. But be dared, the standards are pretty good.Same case in case of placements too.

Otherwise, life in CIT is very good.
