helo aspirant, there is very basic difference between both of them. gate score refers to the marks you scored in exam, while gate number refers to the rank you scored on the basis of marks.

GATE Score is the aggregate marks secured by the candidate in GATE entrance examination.
While, GATE number is the rank seucred by candidate in entrnace examination. Rank will be prepared on the basis of marks secured in the examination by considering the inter-se-merit.
