It all depends on why you want to pursue a career in design.

If you want to pursue a professional career in the fashion industry, I don't believe JD is a viable option. If all you want is a fancy fashion degree, I believe JD is plenty. However, if you are just interested in obtaining a certificate, there are less costly schools that provide the same level of study.
