Its not possible if you are general/obc candidate for whom rock engg cutoff for  2017-18 is as follows:

general (civil engieering): 712

general (civil engieering): 665

obc (mechanical engieering): 820

obc (mechanical engieering): 800

But if you have sc/st quota then you can have this course.

sc (civil engieering): 393

st (civil engieering): 393

sc (mechanical engieering): 299

st (mechanical engieering): 250

If you consider last year cutoffs then it is next to impossible to get Rock Eng. (Civil) because last  year the closing GATE score was around 700 for General Category.

But if you are from SC or ST category then you can get CEU as Last year the GATE Score was around 400.
