In 2018, under the Assam Private University Act, the Majuli University of Culture, Majuli (MUCM) is recognised as the state university in the world’s largest river island of Assam. This special centre is playing role in the protection and enhancement of the regional culture. Recognised by the University Grants Commission (UGC), MUCM provides a wide choice of 10 courses spread across the 3 levels of degrees and covering subjects such as studies in Assamese, historical and heritage societies, performing arts, yoga among others. This has come out clearly in the various courses which are offered in the university that incorporate both the cultural and the modern ways of handling things. 

The campus of Majuli University of Culture provides many amenities that are intended to improve the quality of education of its learners. The university is proud to have departmental laboratories which offers opportunity for practicals in different fields. An effective library as facility provides books for use in the process of learning and research. This is in addition to 3 Master’s degree programmes in Assamese, and Performing Arts Satriya Dance etc., 4 postgraduate diploma courses, and 3 Ph.D. courses in Assamese and Allied Sciences etc.

So, the admission procedure at Majuli University of Culture is developed to facilitate the students, who are eager and capable to pursue the cultural study.  Most probably the university does take into account the academic performance of the student, though there might be entrance exams or interviews for some programmes and definitely for the Ph.D. courses.
