Rajendra University, Balangir is a special place of learning. It was established in 1944 as an Intermediate college, when Maharaja Rajendra Narayan Singh Deo, inducted it. 

It is a state-run public university in the state of Odisha and is recognised by the University Grant Commission (UGC). At first, Rajendra University offered basic courses like B.A. Then, it added more subjects like Commerce (B.Com) and Science (B.Sc). Later on, it even began offering advanced courses for master's degrees. 

In the year 2002, this college became independent and could make its own decisions. Then, in 2020, it officially became the Rajendra University Balangir.

The university aims to provide quality and well-rounded education to the students of the university. The university offers B.A., B.Com, B.Sc, M.A., M.Com and M.Sc courses in streams such as Science, Humanities and all other contemporary areas. 

The fees and eligibility criteria vary from course to course. For Rajendra University admission, the candidates must apply online on the SAMS (Student Academic Management System) portal of the Odisha Government. 

Admission to UG courses is based on academic merit. Students have to appear in the Common PG Entrance Test (CPET) conducted by the state authorities for PG admission. 

Rajendra University provides many facilities for the students so that their stay becomes easy during their academic life. Separate hostels for boys and girls, a gym, sports facilities, language laboratories, libraries, a computer centre and medical facilities are available for the students. 

The Rajendra University's campus is really big, with lots of trees and greenery. The library here is one of the oldest and has lots of books for students and teachers. Rajendra University helps people learn about the local culture, traditions, and ways of life.

To get to the university, one can use different ways. The nearest airport is Veer Surendra Sai Airport in Jharsuguda, and it's about 175 kilometres away from Balangir by road. Biju Patnaik Airport, also known as Bhubaneswar Airport, is farther at 350 kilometres by road. The closest railway station is Balangir itself, which is right in the town.
