This Aryabhatta Teachers' Training College, Patna, is the only teacher education institution functioning in the Indian state of Bihar. The college is governed by the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE), New Delhi, which offers its open and transparent admission system to select eligible candidature in the teacher-training courses. The admission procedure for the Aryabhatta Teacher's Training College is mainly on a merit basis. However, merit in this context means that marks of candidates in the qualifying examination/entrance test for the particular admission process are taken into consideration while applying, referring to state government/UT administration/university guidelines in order to keep the whole selection process fair.

Degree wise Admission Process
B.Ed. (Bachelor of Education): B.Ed. is a two-year full-time study program concerning Aryabhatta Teaching Training College preparing teachers for secondary and higher secondary teaching. The carrying capacity for this course is 100 seats. Admission for the B.Ed. course is on merit, taking into account the marks secured in the qualifying examination and/or entrance test, as the case may be, in accordance with the guidelines of the state government/UT Administration/university.
D.El.Ed. (Diploma in Elementary Education): The D.El.Ed. course aims to prepare teachers for primary classes through two years of theoretical and practical classes as well as internship programs. There are 50 available seats for this course. Although the admission process for D. El. Ed. will also be based on the merit of qualifying examination and/or entrance examination, admission will be subject to fulfilment of the norms laid by state government or UT administration.
