Dr. Ambedkar Primary Teachers Training Institute, at Murshidabad, West Bengal, is an independent college for teacher education. This is a co-educational institution that was started in the year 2004, and has been preparing the next generation educators for almost two decades. The institute occupies a small plot of a mere 2.16 acres and has two particular programmes in teacher training. Presently, the institute has a total student capacity of 298 students and the faculty has 6 persons which help to keep high level of concentration. It is recognised by National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) thus meeting national norms and standards for teacher education institute.

To support learning in Dr. Ambedkar Primary Teachers Training Institute, it has a goal of providing all today’s student needs focusing on the need to offer a one-stop institute. It has a fully equipped library on campus to meet customer needs and for the growth and research of the students. Seminars and cultural programmes are being held in an auditorium for organising all extracurricular activities and events. Through the IT infrastructure the students are able to access the internet and other forms of learning materials. There are sports facilities which include recreation for the body to ensure people take some time out and exercise. Dr. Ambedkar Primary Teachers Training Institute has introduced two regular courses in teacher education. The capacity of admission for Bachelor of Education is hundred seats, and Diploma in Elementary Education is 50 seats. It takes two years to complete both programmes. 

Admission into Dr. Ambedkar Primary Teachers Training Institute is purely on merit through the marks obtained in the qualifying examination and in the entrance examination. The institute follows the admission policies as directed by the state government of West Bengal and the concerned university. In the case of the B.Ed programme, the admission to the course is given to the candidate depending on his/her performance in the qualifying test/entrance examination as prescribed by the state government and university norms.
