The Dr. D.Y. Patil Institute of Engineering and Technology (DYPIET) is located in the Ambi block of Pune in Maharashtra. It covers an area of thirty- three acres of land. The college is affiliated to the Savitri Phule Pune University. This affiliation, ensures the approval of the UGC (University Grants Commission). While it was started only in 2009, its association with the Dr. D.Y. Patil Vidyapeeth ensures that it is part of a much larger group. The Dr. D.Y. Patil Vidyapeeth was set up back in 2003 in Pune. Known as the DPU, the university started with only a single institute, but has now grown to be a very big brand all over Maharashtra. The group has become synonymous with educational excellence, all over western India.
The university has been named after Dr. D.Y. Patil who has been a noted educationist and social reformer, all his career. A number of educational institutions, research organizations and sports academies have been named after him, due to his work in getting them started. The DPU now runs academic institutions for the academic areas of- Engineering, Law, Medical, Pharmaceutical, Education, Nursing, Dental, Bio Technology, Management and even one for Ayurveda.
The DYPIET runs courses at both the UG as well as the PG levels. At the undergrad level, BE programmes are available in the engineering areas of- Civil, Mechanical, Computer, Electrical and for Information Technology (IT). At the master’s level, the courses get more technical. So, the M. E. programmes are available for the two areas of- Design Engineering and in Construction Management. These are handled by the Mechanical and Civil departments respectively. The entire academics at the DYPIT is run by a cohort of eight departments, each with expertise in its own area. Five of these seven departments are for the areas in which the B. E. degrees may be pursued in here. Another two are for the areas of master’s study. The eighth one is the Engineering Science Department. This takes care of all the fundamental sciences being physics, chemistry and mathematics.
Online learning is another methodology that the college strongly endorses. That is why the DYPIET has also signed up for the NPTEL (National Programme on Technology Enhanced Learning). The college also does much in the area of research- both fundamental as well as applied. The faculty members at the DYPIET have also participated in several research conferences and workshops, all over the country. Many have even presented papers at these places. Some of the faculty members have even seen their works getting published on research or academic peer- reviewed journals.
Some of the top journals DYPIET faculty works got published on include- the International Journal of Refrigeration, IJET (International Journal of Engineering and Technology), IREME (International Review of Mechanical Engineering), IJEDR (International Journal of Engineering Development and Research), IJAERD (International Journal of Advance Engineering and Research Development), IJRSP (International Journal of Scientific Research Publications) and many more. A number of research workshops have also been held on campus. Some of the important areas where workshops have recently been held on campus in include- “Analysis of Research Problems through Design of Experiments” and “Machine Learning and Data Science”.
The Pune- based Dr. D.Y. Patil Institute of Engineering and Technology has also been highly proactive when it comes to signing collaborative deals with industry partners. These deals help in curriculum design, research collaboration and in generating consulting assignments. The corporates with which such deals have been put in place at present are- ATS Infotech, Red Hat India, Think Quotient Software Solutions, Parisha, Ethnus, Do Select, Fronyn Technologies, New Wings Solutions, Mitu Skillologies, Finnovation Tech Solutions and Emergent Technologies.
Some companies have also been enlisted as training partners. They help the students in getting more up- to- date with real industry challenges. Emergent Technologies and Do Select are the few right now. All this and more has helped the DYPIET get good scores across ranking platforms. The Careers 360 magazine and its website for instance have placed the college within the AAA band among the category for engineering colleges. The placements have been further well- oiled by such positive ratings. Some of the key recruiters in recent seasons from the campus have been the likes of- Amazon, Force Motors, Maruti Suzuki, Bajaj, Brainstorm Force, Cybage, Mphasis, 3D PLM Software, Sokrati, Infosys, Raja Software Labs, Silver link Technologies, Softenger, Meenakshi Metal Forms, Max Secure, FEV, Replete, PC Technologies, Geleation Lab and some more.
The campus has much to offer. There are hostel facilities for both boys and girls. There is a sports field where outdoor sports may be played. Facilities are also there for indoor sports. The gymnasium may also be used by all. A large auditorium is there to facilitate major events, at both intra and inter college level. Science laboratories have the latest of equipment. A health centre is also there to cater to medical emergencies. Hygienic food is prepared at the college cafeteria. The institute even has its own transport to ferry students to and from the campus. The library here is one of the best stocked within the region. Besides the physical books on display, it also provides digital access to en number of international academic journals for research and academic purposes.
Careers360 shortlists over 5000 colleges across domains each year. Out of these colleges, only those colleges are rated/ranked which provide transparent data requested by Careers360. The cumulative scores of colleges are then calculated and they are divided into clusters as per their scores. Careers360 ranks private and government colleges separately as the support system of both types of Institutions is completely different.
