Dr. Rajendra Prasad Shiksha Mahavidyalaya, Durg, Chhattisgarh was started in the year 2006 and is an affiliated college. This co-educational institute has a campus spreading over 1 acres, and it delivers the education in the field of teacher education only. The institution got approval from NCTE, and it offers only two full-time courses: B.Ed and D.Ed. The total enrolment for students is 84 with a faculty strength of 50, therefore, it has a decent student–teacher ratio. The concern for quality education of the institution is reflected on its concentrated effort towards teacher training programmes. 

Infrastructure of Dr. Rajendra Prasad Shiksha Mahavidyalaya is based on the provision of facilities aimed at improving the learning process of students. Dr. Rajendra Prasad Shiksha Mahavidyalaya offers two courses in the field of education. The B.Ed. has an approved intake of 100 seats, and the D.Ed. offers 50 seats. Both are regular programmes, two years in duration. These shall allow students to develop competencies and skills necessary for being effective teachers. By focusing on these two major programmes, the college gives special attention to teachers' training, which helps students in having a career in the education sector.

The admission procedure to the Dr. Rajendra Prasad Shiksha Mahavidyalaya is merit-based, taking into account the marks obtained in the qualifying examination and/or the entrance examination. For the B.Ed. course, the admission process was done based on a policy framed by the state government, UT administration, or the affiliated university. In the D.Ed. course, admission shall be made on the same lines, as per notified policy of the state government or UT administration. This approach is followed to allow meritorious candidates to get into teaching.
