KVM College of Special Education, Cherthala started in 2001 is a college which provides education exclusively for teachers of special education. The college also offers higher qualifications to those who further wish to study to take higher qualifications, and these include the one-year B.ED programme in special education mental retardation and the one year M.ED programme in special education mental retardation. These programmes take 30 intakes each, making a total of 120 in the three courses offered. These diverse programmes help students at different levels and interests from the learning continuum, from first-time learners to learners who want to acquire deeper knowledge of the subject area.
