Lokhit College of Physical Education, Yavatmal, set up in 1993, is an institution catering only to the physical education stream. This college is situated in the vicinity of the Bus Station area in Yavatmal, state of Maharashtra, and has an area of 5.5 acres of campus area. Lacking adequate ranking data, the college has been approved by the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) to qualify it to the national norms in the delivery of teacher education. Specialising in the area of sports and exercises, it is the only degree-granting institution providing Bachelor of Physical Education (B.P.Ed.) The total admission capacity is one hundred. Currently, the college employs a faculty of 10 members, guaranteeing students an excellent student-to-faculty ratio that would allow for individual attention. 

Lokhit College of Physical Education has therefore provided facilities that would enhance the overall development of the students. Essentially, the college library as a storehouse of knowledge provides learning facilities necessary for the Physical Education course. In the university, most departments have laboratories that afford richer learning experiences through the application of theoretical concepts learnt. Technology is well adopted in the institution, and from the aspect of modern education, the institution has perfect IT networking. Sports amenities are a necessity for a physical education college, which needs the students to practice in order to be well trained. There is also something known as a gym in the college to add more to students physical training. For health and safety, a medical facility accreditated to deal with emergencies has a first aid service on campus. The college canteen provides the necessary nutrition for the college staff and the college students. An auditorium is provided on the campus for conducting various programmes, seminars, and academic activities, making the campus a busy one.

The college mainly aims at it’s Bachelor of Physical Education (B.P.Ed.). It is a full-time course with a duration of 3 years. This programme is the flagship programme of this institution, and based on the approval, it admits 100 students. The B.P.Ed. course is a four-year programme with a view to producing professional, skilled human resources in physical education to teach, train, and organise sports at various levels.  

The admission policy of Lokhit College of Physical Education is aimed at making selections of candidates that may be interested in physical education and may be able to make a good career in this physical education field. The B.P.Ed. programme decides candidates who are at the undergraduate level, preferably with a sports or physical education background.
