Batch of 2016 | PGD in Film Television and Digital Video Production
The Film, Television and Digital Video Production course at Xavier Institute of Communication is one of the best courses in the field currently. In the duration of ten months, this course covers Cinematography, Direction, Production, Script Writing and Television and Film studies. Starting from the history of cinema, to the latest happenings in the field, are dealt with in detail. With five months of in class discussions, the basics are taught, after which, a series of film projects help the students implement all that they have learnt and understand in the field. The projects are divided into Non-fiction film (documentary), Short Fiction film, and Multi Camera project (for television). The final major project for the course is a Social documentary which ensures humanism in the students before the completion of the course. The Faculty includes eminent film industry members, mostly FTII alumni, who have the required knowledge and experience to guide the students through the development process. Various workshops are held with guest lecturers to discuss the current work and their effects. XIC has a fully equipped studio, Satyajit Ray Studio in the main Xavier College campus. The in class projector facilitates for easy viewing of films and the extra space is perfect for the discussions and holding practice shoots in college. There are various equipments (lights, cameras, props) ready for use in class, and if required extra equipment is hired by the college to help students get the right kind of exposure. The course is perfect for someone looking for a kick start in the career of films; but it must not be forgotten that this is a very demanding course and will need a 24x7 attention for the whole duration to excel in the field thereafter.
